Demo Day 2015 – Where Are They Now?

It’s been a whirlwind few months for the young companies that took the stage at Rev1’s inaugural 2015 Demo Day Reveal.

Back in October, 14 passionate entrepreneurs from 11 Rev1 portfolio companies and their customers presented to an audience of more than 600 interested investors, corporate executives and business people, and community leaders.

So what’s happened with them in the last 10 months? As we are gearing up for the 2016 Demo Day, here’s a snapshot of what’s happening with some of the class of Demo Day 2015.

3Bar Biologics Inc. is in farmers’ fields for the third growing season. With proven validatiDDWhereAreTheyNow-05on, 3Bar is doubling sales every year and increasing distribution from two states to six. 3Bar hired a full-time chief science officer. 3Bar has been invited to participate industry and technology events in Raleigh- Durham and at the Global Entrepreneur Summit at Stanford. 3Bar is progressing with its Phase 1 SBIR grant from USDA.

MentorcliQ since last fall has grown revenue by 3X, its team by 2X, and raised $1MM in financing. The DDWhereAreTheyNow-06company signed up premier corporations like Wyndham Hotels (NYSE: WYN) and Valeant Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: VRX). MentorcliQ was named the 2015 winner for Excellence in Practice for Mentoring and Coaching from the largest Talent Development Organization in the world (ATD) its work with Cardinal Health (a MentorcliQ Fortune 50 customer).

Nexosis already successfully serving customers including Wendy’s, Zipscene, and a major Pepsi distributor, was selected as one of 10 out of 600+ companies, to attend the inaugural Techstars Retail. Nexosis is now in week 3 of the intense 3-month Techstars Retail course.DDWhereAreTheyNow-01

Nexosis was also a Top 10 featured company in AI/machine learning in the  as well as one of only three companies in AI/machine learning industry invited to present and hold the stage for a 45-minute Q&A in the Ask Me Anything session. The company has grown to 11 employees and raised more than $700,000. Nexosis is posting documented client results with value add results, for example, that produced future sales predictions with a 94.4 percent certainty and in another case study increased forecasting accuracy that boosted a customer’s revenue by $500,000.

Savy (formerly TacBoard), was a very early concept stage idea at Demo Day presented by then-high school student, Disha Shidham.  Since then, based on market feedback that even large retailers don’t have an effective real time way to optimize their prices, Disha pivoted her solution from a producDDWhereAreTheyNow-02t targeting consumers to more of a business-to-business (B2B) solution. As part of her journey, Disha dug in and learned to code.

Savy now helps businesses determine more information about their online customers, including critical pricing information. Savy has been beta testing with smaller businesses, firms that use Shopify for e-commerce, and has about 80 stores using the Savy widget and app.
