Beyond the Pitch
Click Your Mouse to Help These Young Entrepreneurs
Right now, with just a few clicks and an investment as small as $1, everyone reading this blog has the opportunity to help a group of young entrepreneurs in Ohio take their solution to the next step.
Here’s the deal.
Juiceboxx, Inc. is a company founded by Ohio State students. The company’s first product is a stylish case for your MacBook charger that protects your cord from fraying. The product was designed by Lucas Williamson and Scott Scherpenberg, founders of the company.
The team recently launched a Kickstarter campaign. As of today, they have $10,000 committed toward their $25,000 goal. They plan use the money to manufacture the product, doing the injection molding and production molding locally keeping the dollars in our economy.
The Juiceboxx team recently took first place in the Ohio State Business Plan Competition. Full disclosure: Several folks from TechColumbus are involved in coaching and mentoring OSU students for this competition. It was our pleasure to work this year with four of the six finalist teams, including Juiceboxx, Inc.
Now I don’t begin to know whether entrepreneurs are born or taught, but what I do know with absolute certainty (after more than twenty years in the business of accelerating and investing in startups) is that when young people are exposed to entrepreneurial ideas, when they are encouraged to think about creating a viable business around a new technology, many of them respond in ways that are amazing.
They catch the bug and start shaping their education and interests in ways that lead toward entrepreneurship.
There’s no better example of this phenomenon than The Ohio State University Business Plan Competition.
It’s easy to go to Kickstarter and back this project. Who wouldn’t want to jump in and support these inspiring young entrepreneurs?
And if you have an entrepreneurial idea of your own, let TechColumbus help you get started.
