Venture for America Job Fair Helps Startups Build Great First Teams

  • Are you an entrepreneur looking to build a lean and effectively amazing first team?
  • Do you value exceptionally talented entrepreneurial wunderkinds who are eager to dive into the trenches and go to work?
  • Would you benefit from meeting with many remarkable, pre-vetted candidates in a single day?

Then the Midwest Venture for America Job Fair on April 17 in Columbus is perfect for you.

The VFA Jobs Fair is unlike any other for startup companies that are looking to build a lean and effective first team. Columbus entrepreneurs will have a unique opportunity to scout talent and speed interview dozens of 2015 VFA Fellows that will join their companies for at least 2 years.

Venture for America is an amazing source of affordable talent for startup companies.

VFA is a fellowship program for recent college graduates to launch their careers as entrepreneurs. It’s selective. If you aren’t familiar with Venture for America (VFA), read more about VFA here.

VFA selects and trains Fellows from among applicants who might otherwise be on Wall Street, working for top tier consulting practices, or joining engineering, marketing, or finance departments of top US corporations.

In concept, VFA is similar to the successful Teach for America program, only instead of teaching, VFA fellows spend two years working as full-time employees for a promising startup in a “non-destination” city.

In 2014, Columbus became a VFA city. (Of the first 12 cities, three are in Ohio.) Since 2011, VFA has placed more than 200 remarkable graduates in startup companies. We currently have five Fellows working in five Columbus startups.

After completing a five-week VFA boot camp, Fellows spend two years in the trenches of a startup in an emerging city where they learn how to build a business while making an impact. VFA FAQs.

Rev1 is committed to helping our clients build great first teams.

A company is only as great as its leadership and employees. We’ve said this before, and it bears repeating: When it comes to due diligence, savvy investors prioritize team over product every time.

That’s why we’ve introduced the Rev1 Jobs Board. That’s why we are taking an active role in connecting early stage Columbus companies with VFA fellows.

We have a pulse on dozens of early stage Columbus companies. We want to help them get to the front of the VFA line.
