Simon Sinek’s model for inspirational leadership starts with asking the simple question “Why?” Sinek’s Ted Talk, “Start With Why,” uses anecdotes from Apple, Martin Luther King, and the Wright brothers to illustrate the path that true leadership takes. Start with Why is a key question that successful leaders ask while developing the culture of their company.

Great Leaders Start with Why

As the head of your organization, you must also be the leader. Your “why” is your internal driver, the north star and will become the company’s mission.  It is the first step in setting the tone for your company’s culture. One of the great things about building a company from scratch is that as founder, you can create the culture you always wanted to have. It pays to be intentional at a very early stage. What you care about as the CEO will influence your employees’ pursuits.
