Lasoh: Creating A Better Guest Experience

Lasoh Delivers Marketing Technology for Vacation Rental Managers that Drives Revenue By Improving The Guest Experience

After 15-plus years of marketing and product leadership in Fortune 500 companies, Orlie Benjamin’s love of great customer experiences, plus her career jolt of the 2020 pandemic, inspired her pivot into entrepreneurship.

Orlie is the founder of Lasoh, the Ohio software startup that provides marketing technology to vacation rental managers who seek to increase occupancy and revenue through improving guest experiences.

From family cabin to digital concierge, data collection, and revenue-boosting marketing

“I bought land and built a cabin,” Orlie said. “The idea was to create a place where our family could make memories and host people. When we weren’t using it, the cabin made financial sense as a short-term rental.”

As she set out to design a unique experience for her own cabin renting guests, Orlie, ever the business problem-solver, came up against a market need without a solution.

“There weren’t tools for vacation managers and rental hosts who wanted to improve and increase revenue by differentiating their customers’ experience,” Orlie said, “except to sign up with a service like VRBO or Airbnb. I couldn’t replicate myself, but with technology I could replicate my methods to help vacation managers run better businesses by establishing better relationships with their customers. I realized I wanted to be in the software business serving the hospitality industry.

“Guests who have a great experience stay engaged, tell their friends, and come back for future vacations,” Orlie said. “Creating and engaging with loyal guests enables vacation rental managers to reduce dependence on platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO and increase occupancy and revenue through repeat bookings.”

The life-stage of the vacation rental industry opens a lot of doors.

“The small to mid-range vacation property management industry is still very fragmented,” Orlie said. “Instead of unlocking customers one at a time, Lasoh helps businesses in the space run profitably, from marketing to filling the reservations book, all with a human touch.”

Lasoh plans to conduct further market validation and market testing beginning this summer.

“I am grateful and honored to be part of Rev1’s accelerator program. This is such an opportunity to learn and get better every day. I also gain access to people I never would have known. Rev1’s network enables me to reach potential mentors and investors, resulting in the right conversations,” Orlie said.

“Everything hard takes a team,” she said. “Working together is just like hospitality. It takes relationships and trust. You can’t do anything as hard as building a company by yourself.”
