There’s been an accident in your workplace. Now what? Reacting quickly to the accident, with a prescribed procedure and actions, can demonstrate your company’s commitment to safety and ensure the proper information is collected to fulfill
an accident investigation’s ultimate purpose – determining the causes of the accident, identifying any unsafe conditions, acts, or procedures that contributed to the accident, and finding ways to prevent similar accidents in the future.
The goal of this session is to teach you the basic components of an effective accident investigation.
These components include:
• Asking questions such as: who was involved or injured, where did the incident happen, when did it occur, what were the causes, and how can similar incidents be prevented?
• Determining the factors that contributed to the accident such as: unsafe or defective equipment, unsafe environment or conditions, poor housekeeping, hysical hazards, poor planning, poor instruction or unsafe work practices.
• What you need to do and know after a workplace accident.
