Rev1 Portfolio Company Deep Lens Sees Impressive Growth

Deep Lens, a Columbus, OH-based Rev1 portfolio company resident at Rev1 Labs, announced that it has raised more than $14 million in Series A funding. In total, the startup has raised $17.5 million, including a $3.2 million seed round last October. Rev1 Ventures participated in both the Series A and seed rounds.

Deep Lens is developing a cloud-based digital pathology software suite based on licensed technology from Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH), one of the country’s largest pediatric oncology facilities.

The company’s Virtual Imaging for Pathology Education and Research (VIPER) has been in the hands of pathology groups and physicians from more than 65 major institutions around the world for more than a decade. Time-tested and enhanced with Artificial Intelligence, VIPER creates a shared workflow designed to help pathologists diagnose faster and more accurately, helping patients get the right treatment, clinical trial, or drug.

We are really proud of the Deep Lens team. This company is a terrific example of how spinouts from Rev1 Ventures’ Innovation Partners—Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Ohio State University, and OhioHealth—are turning disruptive technologies into companies that improve people’s lives.
